always a memory.

i'm struggling to put words to my (many) emotions today.
16 years ago today, my dad passed away.

i remember coming home from school & running across the yard to see my mom standing on the porch. i hit the dip in the lawn by our garden (funny how something so insignificant as that stands out) & knew in my heart he was gone.

the years have eased the pain in part, but there will always be a hole in my life. i miss him dearly and wish that he could have been an intricate part of those growing up moments-basketball games, first dates, graduations, & wedding days.

so incredibly grateful for the memories.
for the legacy he left behind. for his love of the Lord. for being MY dad.

dad, much love. can't wait to join you in heaven one day soon.

monday, monday.

is it just me or do yall sing that song too?
it nevers fails--i sing the chorus (softly) to myself.
it's a good thing you can't hear it-hello, tone deaf.
ask my sister. she'll tell you.

aaand, moving on.
we've got a quiet monday night ahead of us.
the u.s. open just wrapped up & there will be some hulu
catching up going on in just a few.

last week (thanks to a long labor day weekend), i was able to
finish up some long-awaited craft projects.
it's been ages since i have had some extra time to work on some
personal projects & i loved every second of it.
hope you do too!

i posted this picture ages ago.

best deal EVER at my fave flea market.

i never really knew what i would do with it-it was just a great buy.
thank goodness, pinterest (and images like this) came into my life.

this is the end result.

ignore the fact that i'm OUTSIDE with a jewelry box.
there is just NO good light inside.
compartments for everything. LOVE.

i went with a more neutral color (creamy french vanilla craft paint)
because at some point, it's going to pop off of a painted (not apartment white) wall.

my other project also came from pinterest.
seriously, what did we do before this addiction came along?

easy peasy.
olive green and so fun.

did you have any fun weekend projects?
do share!

fail.

im failing on the blog front right now. the christmas season is fast approaching and that means busy schedules and little time to create. i have finished several gifts but am not really wanting those special people to see what they are getting for christmas! hopefully, this coming week will find the start of a new t-shirt blanket and a gift or two that i can show y'all (thanks to a mom who doesn't read my blog)!

im also thinking of adding another scheduled post (like etsy favorites)-maybe a favorite blog or blog post of the week? what would you like to see?

happy thursday!

lovely.

thanks to xuan, i now have a tutorial to make such pretty necklaces! she recently sent me a link to this fabulous blog, the anderson crew, and this tutorial.

i've had a blast making these necklaces. pictured below are 2 of the 4 i've finished so far. one for diana (hi, bestie) and one for me! what do you think?

something to think about.

as i was reading through my blogs this morning (please don't ask me how many i have, it's embarassing), i came across two different posts from bloggers that just hit home with me.

the first thought comes from dandee at my favorite things. she and her family have adopted this statement for 2010.

i wonder just how often many of us forget that we are not alone in this world. that we are not the only ones who have a "hard" time of it. that we are so very blessed in comparision with those who have so little. i kept reading and came to brooke's post. WOW! what a reminder from the Lord that we should "never tire of doing what is right" (2 thessalonians 3:13). i shouldn't be down in the dumps because of a bad day or because life just ISN'T going the way i want it to go. we are called to do good...to follow the Lord and to glorify His name!

doing right and doing what is good can very well go hand in hand. praise the Lord for this reminder today!

WHAT GOOD WILL YOU DO TODAY?
